Checking PT Fuel Pump System Faults
Shut-off valve failure. The supply and stop of diesel fuel to the injectors in the Cummins PT fuel system is controlled by a shut-off valve (also called a shutdown valve) on the PT pump. At present, electromagnetic shut-off valves are widely used. When energized, the parking solenoid valve coil generates a magnetic field, which sucks the spool (valve piece), and when the oil circuit is turned on and off, the magnetic field disappears, and the spool returns under the action of the spring to close the oil circuit. If the driver neglects the inspection and maintenance of this valve and circuit, it often causes the diesel engine to malfunction.
